Kiva, A Heart Warming Story

What a heartwarming and inspiring exchange of good feelings that was started by Mary, a young student from Yerevan, and within days both Anahit and Gyavaz got fully funded.

Kiva is a unique online lending site where individuals lend money (as little as $25) directly to poor but proud individual borrowers who cannot get loans from banks and other commercial lenders.

No need for explanation. It is easy to use, safe, reliable, and transparent. Just click on kiva.org do your due diligence and join many like-minded people to help reduce poverty worldwide, including in Armenia.

You will find it humbling to see a borrower like Gyavaz get her $3000 Loan fully funded by 81 lenders from Armenia, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Greece, and 9 other European countries. Yes, it is humbling to be part of such a group of Good Samaritans.

Since Anahit was fully funded, we sent you a gift card. Be sure to post the link when you use the card so that Irene and the rest of us can join you. Meanwhile, maybe you should consider becoming a KIVA fellow. Seems like your research would help the KIVA cause. Also, Sona and I will be in Armenia the last week of June and first week of July. We will be building a home for a villager family in Nor Kharberd. You should join us for a day. We have a team of 18 volunteers. Please contact Gohar Vardanyan at the Fuller Center for Housing in Yerevan. Hoping to meet you…

I feel AWESOME!!!! You guys are so kind-hearted. Thanks for two Kiva gift cards. As you said… use it wisely. So, I gave first $25 (from Jouko) to Anna from Yeghegnadzor – www.kiva.org/lend/1267508 . Did you know, that farmers in Yeghegnadzor has very large beekeeping practice and the tastiest honey. My best friend is from Yeghegnadzor.
With $25 gifted kindly by Leo and Sona, I supported Gyavaz – www.kiva.org/lend/1267436 . Her kids are really sweet. And her loan size is large ( $3,000 loans like that usually expire).
Once again, thanks for such an attitude and thanks for letting me be a part of something great. You can count on me, I sure will contact Gohar Vardanyan. I do hope to meet you this summer. It seems like it is going to be an adventurous summer with kindness in the air.

Mary, thanks so much for introducing yourself! It’s wonderful to have you on Kiva and on this team. You have broken nothing at all and your participation, now I know a bit about you, is something I will look forward to. Please help us to understand the situation of loans in Armenia (or anywhere else that interests you) when you have time. There are not so many young people on Kiva so your presence is even more valuable. I’ll be thinking of you and asking blessings for you.

Like many people on Kiva, I’m in the US, on the East Coast in Philadelphia. I grew up near Boston in an area where Armenians were one of the strong ethnic groups so learned to love Armenian culture and history and our church has a number of Armenian congregations. I am grandmother age and mostly retired.
